Utah Divas International - Saturday Sketch Challenge

Hello Friends,

Happy Saturday to you!  Here is the challenge for this week.

I am on my way to Puerto Rico at the moment, ready to board the luxurious cruise ship to the Southern Caribbean. What an adventure.
Edie Bunting, one of my downline who happens to be a fabulous friend sent me a card a while back and I loved it so much, I made multiple cards and changed the sentiment for various occasions.  (Although it does not exactly match todays sketch, I wanted to post it today)

LOVE Melon Mambo

I hope I won't need to give this card to myself on the trip :) I have never been on a cruise before and I so hope I don't get seasick.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Bon Appetit

Hello Friends,

Look at this cute 'recipe book'.  It is very quick and easy to make. Store all your favorite recipes in this book and keep it for yourself or make it for a gift for someone.

I recently held a class where we made these recipe books.  The idea was from my friend, Lisa Freeman.  She sent me a book as I shared an easy recipe with her.  Maybe you would like it :)
Take 2 pieces of Bread.  Spread peanut butter and jelly on the bread and place together.  Enjoy.  Lisa liked my recipe (and sense of humor) so much that she sent me the book.  I love it when my fellow demonstrator friends share their amazing creativity.

My Founder's Circle Journal

Hello Friends,
This beautiful journal was made especially for me by my awesome friend, Kimberly Van Diepen from Colorado Springs, CO.  Last year I earned a place in DOY (Demonstrator of the Year).  As I am an employee I was not able to earn the award or go to Founder's Circle.

Kimberly took this beautiful creation with her to Founder's and had many of my friends write cute messages.  She gave it to me at Leadership and I was touched by the thoughtfulness of my friends.  There were many who did not sign it (can't imagine they were having fun or anything!!! :) so I am going to take it with me on the cruise for those who want to sign it.  It is a great treasure. Thank you most sincerly, Kimberly.

Here is a close-up of fine detail.
Stampin' Up! gave me my 'very own' current update which allowed me to share the news with my friends.

Celebrating Maxine

August 13, 2009

We don't often talk about the accomplishments of Stampin' Up! employees who are also demonstrators, but this case is special. Max (Maxine) Conrad is a Stampin' Up! demonstrator who also works as a service account manager in Demonstrator Support. Although employees are not eligible to win the Founder's Circle or Demonstrator of the Year awards, Max's achievements would have placed her in the top 100 Demonstrators of the Year! We are excited about her accomplishment and congratulate her for this success!

Stampin' Up! Demonstrators who are also Employees can however earn the incentive trip.  I am so grateful for this.  (The reason behind this is because there are only 100 (out of 40,000+ Demonstrators) who can earn a place in DOY - there is no limit on the amount of people who can earn the incentive trip. Whilst it was heartbreaking for me not to walk across the stage for my accomplishment both in the top 100 and 1 of 7 for SR Supervisor promotions, or attend Founder's Circle, I sustain Stampin' Up's decision 100%. I may not agree with it, but I sustain it :)

I loved this message from my friend, Kelly.
The time has almost arrived dear Kelly :)

Have a wonderful day!

~It's the Caribbean Countdown~

Hello Friends,

This past weekend I had so much fun shopping for our upcoming cruise. I earned the trip back in April of last year and it has been such a long time in coming and now here we are :) This picture was taken when I earned the Incentive Trip to the Southern Caribbean.

Beth Hatt was my SAM when I earned the trip and we sat next to each other.  Beth is now working for another company and is really enjoying it.  (If she used to be your SAM, know that she misses you!  She told me the other night when we went to Natalie's for our Cafe Rio supper :)

The SAMS decorated my desk and they put a piece of Basic Black card stock over the 'BIRTH' so the banner read Happy Day.  Nate Swan, who used to be a SAM had fun adding skulls and crossbones to the card stock :)

I am so excited for our cruise and so happy my Mom left England when she did or she may not have been able to make it due to the volcano in Iceland.

Have a wonderful day!

Utah Divas International - Saturday Sketch Challenge

Happy Saturday Friends,

Time for another Sketch Challenge.  Here is the challenge for this week.

When I first looked at this sketch, the Vintage Vogue Stamp Set instantly came to mind. I thought I couldn't possibly use it again, even though I was tempted ;)
Lance's (my husband) best friend is getting married in June and I am thrilled that his wife to be is the sweetest person.  We have a lot in common, shopping being #1 :)  I realized I don't have any wedding cards in my 'stash' and so decided to go with a 'wedding' theme for this challenge.

Here is what I came up with

Stamp Set: Blissful Bride
Card Stock: Bride Speciality Designer Paper, Groom Speciality Designer Paper, Whisper White
Ink: Black Stazon
Accessories: White Satin Ribbon, Black Satin Ribbon, 2 way glue pen, Dazzlin' Diamonds, Stampin' Dimensionals

Here is the middle of the card

The Bride and Groom Speciality Designer Series Paper featured in this card (Bridesmaid not featured) are so elegant. This is what the back of the card looks like.

"Wedding Card Class" will be offered very soon.  Kits in the mail will be available.

Have a great day!

Utah Divas International - Inspiration Challenge

Hello Friends,

Every Saturday I post my Sketch Challenge to my blog.  I love taking part in this.  On Thursday, a number of my friends from Utah Divas International take part in an Inspiration Challenge. I often look at the beautiful pictures that Maria gives to the Divas and I think "Now what would I create after looking at that?"  One of these days I may surprise you.....and myself.

Here are the cards that my friends came up with from looking at this picture.

Maria Williams created this card.  How cute is this?  I love how she used the Lattice Die Cut to create beautiful dimension. Can you say "Perfectly tied Ribbon :) A perfect card for the birth of a baby girl.  Simply switch the colors for a baby boy :)

This card was created by Carol Marbach.  Carol gives us our Saturday Sketch Challenges and not only creates for Saturdays but is part of the Inspiration Challenge too. Look how cute this ribbon is. Fabulous job.

This card was created by Katy Zamer.  This set "Elements of Style" will be available on May 1. If you have not received your Summer Mini Catalog yet, please let me know so I can get one in the mail to you. Look at the fine detail on this card.  Very elegant.

This card was created by Robin Merriman.  Love the style of card used here - Scallop Square Die/Big Shot.  Love the Designer Series Paper. Another perfectly tied bow.  So very cute :)
If you are interested in creating a card/project using this challenge, please be sure to link your blog to this post and share your creativity with us.

Have a wonderful day!

Utah Divas International - Saturday Sketch Challenge

Hello Friends,

It is crazy how fast time passes.  It just seems like yesterday I was posting 'Last Weeks' challenge.  Here is the sketch challenge for this week.
This challenge was a little rough on me.  I don't like things to be 'busy' all in one place and everything was at the 'bottom' of this card.  A challenge it was :)
Here is what I came up with !

I stuck with the challenge, but normally I would have put the sentiment in the middle of the card.
MELON MAMBO ~ I am so thrilled this color will not be retiring.  I have really enjoyed working with this color and normally we would be saying 'Bye Bye' on June 30th.
If you are a regular follower of my blog, you will know I LOVE the Big Shot. I use it with most of my creations.  The beautiful background you see on the Melon Mambo card stock is the new Square Lattice Embossing Folder in the upcoming Summer Mini Catalog (May 1- Aug 31)
I also love Heat Embossing.  I really wanted to make a point of the 'New Shoes' stamp.  I LOVE shopping, but there is something about SHOES :) Click here to see a previous post about shoes.
Here is the middle of the card

I used the Full Heart Punch and ran the hearts through the Big Shot using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.  I stuck them to the card using Glue Dots and crunched them a little.

Stamp Set: Things I Love (115229)

Card Stock: Basic Black, Melon Mambo, Whisper White
Ink: Basic Black Craft, Melon Mambo Classic
Accessories: Full Heart Punch, Modern Label Punch, Square Lattice Embossing Folder, Melon Mambo 1/2" Polka-Dot Grosgrain Ribbon, Black Embossing Powder, Heat Tool

Let's go see what my friend Ruthie came up with this week - Click Here

Have a fabulous day!
