A special card

Hello Friends,

EVERY single year for our birthday, Shelli Gardner (CEO and Co-Founder of Stampin' Up!) sends me a birthday card.  Not only am I a Demonstrator, but being an Employee has its perks too.

Look how cute this card is. I love it.  This will go with the rest of the cards I have received from Shelli, along with my Promotion Certificates.

Not only does Shelli make a cute card, she always puts a personalized message inside.

The last line reads - "I'm so glad there's you"
I have never ever worked for anyone else where an Employer has given me a handmade card (trying to think if I even received a store bought one) along with a personalized message - and a tear jerking one at that.  Shelli also gives us a Gift Card.  She truly appreciates us and I am so very grateful to her.

Not only have I met the most wonderful people as a Demonstrator, but I work with the most wonderful people too.  I am truly grateful for the friendships that have been formed, and flourished due to Shelli Gardner.

FINAL day of Sale-A-Bration tomorrow.  Don't miss out.

I would love you to join our team - contact me for more information.

Card Class Prep

Hello Friends,

Nothing wrong with your eyesight!!  :)  I posted this picture on Thursday and as I have been busy prepping, I have had no time to create.  I didn't get a chance to participate in MDS Monday yesterday or our Color Challenge today!
I haven't posted since Thursday - so not like me!  However, I do have an excuse!  (We as women are entitled to excuses aren't we? :)

Wednesday and Thursday of this week is my BIRTHDAY class and so I have been very busy cutting and punching (not literally:) and running card stock through the Big Shot.  Both classes are full and plenty of people signed up for my "Kits in the Mail".

Back to regular posting tomorrow!  I will be sharing many of my birthday cards with you.  I can't believe in just a few years, I will be turning 30!!  Bwaaaahhh:)

Don't forget!  Sale-A-Bration ends on Thursday.

Getting ready for card class

Hello Friends,

Today has been productive.  I sorted out all my Card Stock and Designer Series Paper.  I just LOVE organization :)

I spent a lot of the morning getting ready for my card classes next week and kits in the mail.  Lots of cutting, punching and Big Shot usage.

I caught sight of "Family" shown in the picture and decided to stop what I was doing (my preparation for classes) and take my children to the movies. Last night Olivia asked if we could go watch "Tangled" as she has done for quite a while. It didn't happen as we had other plans so I surprised her by taken her today.  JD was happy to go to - even thought it is 'a girl show' (in his words :) Lance was working but I told him he just HAS to see it ;)

What a FUN movie!  Loved it.  It was nice to take a break but now that I am home and the kids are playing - back to the stamp room I go.

Don't forget Sale-A-Bration!  Only a few days to go.

Olivia's Preschool Visit to Stampin' Up!

Hello Friends,

Yesterday my daughter Olivia came to Stampin' Up! with her preschool teacher and friends for a 'Field Trip'.  I was in a meeting when they arrived and we could actually hear the children in the next room.  They were making cards.  This card is what Olivia made for me.  I had let Amy Greene, who coordinated the event know I would be in the meeting when the kids came to Stampin' Up! I let her know I would love to see Olivia.

Amy was so sweet to bring the children to our meeting room and we got to visit with them for a few minutes.  A HUGE thanks to Jim who made the children welcome during his training meeting.
As soon as Olivia saw me, she ran right over and gave me a hug.  She proudly handed the card she made me - featured today :) A card I will forever treasure!

I was not fully prepared being that I was in a training meeting but I so wish I had taken a picture of the kids.  They were so sweet.

When Olivia found out she would be going to "Stampin' Up!" - she proudly announced - "Oh that is my Mom's work!"
It was as much a special day for me as it was for Olivia :)

Wonderfully Wicked Wednesday #3

Hello Friends,

Time for another Wonderfully Wicked Wednesday (WWW) with Utah Divas International.  I have been planning classes for next month and one of them is a 'notecard' class.  I often find I need a card to send to someone to say "Thank You" and I don't need to write a lot in the card.  I love the simplicity of these small notecards.  More details to come :)

For the month of March, we have the Purple, Black and Green color combination for WWW.  The card size is 4x4 and I used Basic Black for this.  I added a piece of Very Vanilla in the inside.  I am loving the "Botanical Gazette" Designer Series Paper in the Occasions Mini Catalog.  I layered the card with a piece of Old Olive paper - 3 3/4" x 3 3/4".
I used the Scallop Circle, Decorative Label and Modern Label Punches and used the "Thank You" sentiment from the Curly Cute Stamp Set.  I added a piece of 5/8" Basic Black Grosgrain Ribbon to compliment the card.

The sights and wonders of nature have inspired mankind from the beginning of time! And we’ve been documenting all the glorious things we see around us ever since. Add the fine and intricate details of some favorite flying and buzzing creatures to your projects with the vintage almanac artistic style of this Designer Series Paper. Bonny birds and rustic antique cages, busy bees and the alluring pattern of honeycombs, and the hum of butterfly wings flapping all in a spectrum of rich, calming colors await to add a world of appeal to your creations.

■ Includes 12 sheets: 2 each of 6 double-sided designs

■ 12" x 12"

■ Acid and lignin free

■ Coordinates with Early Espresso, So Saffron, Very Vanilla, Cherry Cobbler, Not Quite Navy, Marina Mist, and Old Olive

■ Coordinates with images in our Nature Walk Set

Set Quantity: 12

Hope - Breast Cancer Awareness

Hello Friends,

Cancer is such an ugly disease!  I know many people, loved ones who have suffered and even passed away as a result of cancer and it breaks my heart.

My dear Aunt Ruthie passed away from Breast Cancer back in 2005.  I was devastated. She is the reason I created a card!  She is the reason I became a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator. Since joining Stampin' Up! many of my demonstrator friends have found out they had breast cancer.  Whenever I can be involved with any fundraisers for Cancer Research - I am.

Every October I walk with many other people for "Strides against Breast Cancer" and always pay tribute to Aunt Ruthie.  I created this card with her in mind and many other of my friends who suffer even today with breast cancer.

The 'Strength and Hope' stamp set will be available in wood or clear mount beginning April 1.  I hope you will all think about purchasing this set as $2 will go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Stamp Set - Strength and Hope
Card Stock - Pretty in Pink, Very Vanilla
Classic Ink - Pretty in Pink
Accessories - Big Shot, Perfect Polka Dots, Embossing Folder, 1 3/8" and 1 1/4" Circle Punches, Pretty in Pink Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, Pearls, Stampin' Dimensionals, Snail Adhesive

Demonstrator Event in Elmer NJ

Hello Friends,

I just had an absolutely fabulous weekend. I flew into Philadelphia for a Demonstrator Event put together by Kristin Kortonick and Claire Lawrence.  Kristin was a wonderful hostess.  I am Claire's SAM and have got to know Kristin through Stampin' Up! events.  They both put on an amazing event and I am sooooooooo happy I got to go and spend the weekend with them.  They had asked me to go there as a guest speaker.

I met their wonderful downline and a few of their customers.  Sunday morning was a real highlight for me - I got to sleep in, sit in bed reading a book and actually got to stamp cards at a class.  WOW - that was awesome for me ! Everything was cut out and I just got to sit and stamp instead of having to be the one to cut and play teacher :)

Stampin' Up! has brought so many wonderful friends in my life :)  I have been 'online friends' with Judy Lucas for 4 years.  We finally got to meet at this event as she lives in Elmer NJ.  That was a real treat for me.

Here is what Kristin wrote on her blog -

I had the pleasure of picking up our guest speaker, Maxine Conrad, from the airport! Max is a demonstrator. But, she also works for Stampin' Up! In fact, she works directly with the top demonstrators in the company (which includes Claire and I). She's able to bring an interesting perspective since she knows first-hand what it is to be a demonstrator while knowing what goes on behind the scenes within Stampin' Up! She's the first and only Stampin' Up! employee to earn the incentive trip. She's even been one of the Top 100 demonstrators in the US!

After picking up Max from the airport, we drove over to Claire's house in Philadelphia because two of our other guests were staying with Claire. Just shortly after we arrived, Karen Barber and Michelle Zindorf pulled up! Karen Barber is actually Claire's aunt! And Karen and Michelle have become very good friends through stamping. So, the five of us (along with Claire's sister/Karen's niece) headed off to yummy Thai dinner.

The next morning was the actual Spring Fling event. Max was a trooper! She got up at 6am with me to get ready and head over to the venue. But, she, of course, was still on Mountain Time and it really felt like 4am to her! The event started with an hour of swapping and demonstrations from four of our own demonstrators.

Max told some great stories, shared some fantastic tips, and inspired us all for the next 90 minutes. One demonstrator in attendance said she's not a note-taker, but took four pages of notes based upon the valuable information Max had to share!

The pictures at the top of the page were taken at a cute little restaurant close to Kristin's house.  I quickly added them to a page in MDS added a sentiment and a couple of embellishments.

Thanks again Claire and Kristin - I LOVED spending time with you :) It was great to spend time with Tina Rosenkrans, Karen Barber and Michelle Zindorf.

Hello Friends,

Wonderfully Wicked Wednesday #2

Hello Friends,

Can you believe I joined another Design Team?  Oh of course you can :)))  Utah Divas International has a new Wednesday post. It is called "Wonderfully Wicked Wednesday"  - Love it.  The Design Team is small just now but we will have more members soon.  If you are interested in joining any of the Design Teams, please let me know.
Coming soon - Friday Fabric :)

For this challenge we had to use Purple, Black and Green and a neutral color of our choice.
Most of you will know I am a member of the Color Challenge team and we don't get to choose a shade of purple or green - we are given set colors to use.  This was fun.  I chose Concord Crush which is one of this years In Colors and I haven't used it in a while. I was debating between Old Olive and Always Artichoke.  Artichoke 'won'.

I used Basic Black for the base of the card with a piece of Very Vanilla inside - very elegant and I stamped an image from the Clearly for You stamp set using the Concord Crush and Always Artichoke Stampin' Write Markers. Check out the envelope in the picture above.  It is stamped exactly like the middle of the card.

I used a piece of the First Edition Designer Series Paper(DSP) from the Occasions Mini Catalog. Love it!  I stamped images from the Clearly for You stamp set using the Concord Crush and Always Artichoke Stampin' Write Markers then used the Color Spritzer Tool to 'age' it a little.  I then scrumpled up the paper (just love doing that:) I added a small piece of torn Concord Crush Card Stock to the right hand side of the card base and adhered the 'unwrapped' piece of DSP to the card.  Love torn edges.

Finally, I adhered a piece of Concord Crush ribbon to the card and added a sentiment from the "Cute and Curly" stamp set.  I used the Modern Label Punch to punch out the sentiment stamped with Basic Black on Very Vanilla.  I then used the Scallop Oval Punch to punch out the Concord Crush Card Stock. Stampin' Dimensionals do the trick to give a 'popped' up effect.

Hello Friends,

I totally forgot about our Color Challenge last week and with colors we got to use today - there was no way I was going to forget this week.

Stamp Set - Bliss
Card Stock - Basic Gray, Baja Breeze, Very Vanilla
Classic Ink - Baja Breeze, Basic Gray

MDS Monday #5

Hello Friends,

Time for another MDS Monday with Utah Divas International.  This week we were asked to create a project using 'GREEN' being that it is St Patrick's Day this coming Thursday.  I have never understood why we observe/celebrate St Patrick's Day.  (It's not like the Irish need an excuse to drink alcohol :)

The base of this card is Whisper White although it is obviously difficult to see this :)  I used Pear Pizzazz to layer on top of the white.  I used a cute frame using Always Artichoke and added a brad using the same color in each of the corners.  I added some Whisper White Grosgrain Ribbon with a knot.  Last week, the challenge was to use punches. I used a punch in this weeks challenge - the corner rounder.  I added a LUCKY sentiment from the 'Define your Life' alphabet set using Whisper White ink.

Season of Friendship

Hello Friends,

Remember the Valentine's Card I made using the Season of Friendship stamp set? - click here to see it!

I am always excited to see a creation using this set as I am amazed at its many different uses.  One of my SAMee's who happens to be a great friend - Vicky - made this beautiful project.  I love decorating my home with creations made using Stampin' Up!s fabulous products.  It was hard for me to decide where to put this one.  Part of me wanted to display it on my desk at work and the other part wanted me to keep it at home.  The latter part won :) I put it in my stamp room so I could look at it often seeing as I spend so much of my time in there.

What a wonderful way to use this set.  I absolutely love this gift and will treasure it always just as I do my friendship with Vicky :)
