Sketch Challenge - Watercoloring

Hello Friends!

Ever since I knew Carol wanted the team to 'watercolor' this weeks sketch, I have felt sick :)  Watercoloring is NOT my forte and something I rarely ever do.  One because I am not good at it, two because it takes longer to make a card and three because I wondered how many times I would have to color it before it was perfect!

I was amazed with how I actually liked it.  It has been a while, a long while since I have used my Watercolor Wonder Crayons.  They were tucked away in the back of the drawer.

Here is what I came up with

I used Very Vanilla Card Stock as my base. I used Real Red and fabulous Watercolor Paper.  This is a MUST when watercoloring. A sneak peek of our new Sending Love Specialty Designer Paper. Hard to see, but quite a few of the flowers are glitter sprinkled.

I used the Basic Brown Classic Ink which is perfect for watercoloring to stamp the bear from Beary Best Friends Stamp Set.  I stamped the sentiment "Happy Bearthday" with Real Red Classic Ink from the Beary Nice Wishes Stamp Set .

THEN came the torture.......just kidding, I actually found it relaxing.  (My son actually asked if I was 'doing my homework' :)  I used the fabulous Watercolor Wonder Crayons and the Blender Pen.  The colors I used were Close to Cocoa, Creamy Caramel, Pretty in Pink, Red Red and Blush Blossom. I used the corner rounder punch for the watercolor paper, added a Pretty in Pink ribbon and used Glue Dots to give the bear a raised look.

Finally, I used the Bear Track Wheel and Creamy Caramel ink to add the finishing touch.

Product Tip -
Watercolor Paper 105019

Price: $6.95

This paper is perfect for watercoloring with using our line art stamps and Classic inks or Watercolor Wonder Crayons. The size was chosen to layer perfectly on a card front without having to trim or make adjustments.

■ 20, 3-3/4" x 5" sheets per package

■ 140-lb. cold-pressed paper

■ 100% cotton

■ Resists buckling when wet

Gift for MOM

I am trying to plan ahead for my classes in the new year. Great idea for a Mother's Day Class or "Just Because Gift" class. After all, we really don't need to wait until Mother's Day to give our Mom's a gift :)  This cute little journal book was so easy and fun to make.  I covered the "On Board 5" x 5" Art Journal" with the "Sending Love" Specialty Designer Paper which is in the Occasions Mini Catalog using Tombow adhesive.  I cut 18 pieces of Chocolate Chip satin ribbon, which will also be available on January 5th when the Occasions Mini Catalog will be available to order from.  I tied the ribbon through the spirals.

I am loving the new Clear Mount Stamps.  They are so easy to use and make stamping an image exactly where you want it an absolute dream.  The fact that the stamp is rubber gives it a clean, crisp image.  The clear blocks are fabulous. They have a great grip and are perfect.

I stamped all the pages with this cute stamp and colored the flowers with Chocolate Chip and Pretty in Pink Stampin' Write Markers.  Again, credit to the clear mount stamp, I was able to perfectly place the stamp right where I wanted it.....quickly.

I stamped the "MOM" stamps with Chocolate Chip Classic Ink on Whisper White Card Stock, layered it onto a scalloped edged piece of Chocolate Chip Card Stock and colored it with the Pretty in Pink Stampin' Write Marker.  You can't tell from the picture, but I added Crystal Effects to it.  It looks fabulous.  I added a flower from the Pretties Kit and colored the small flower with the Pretty in Pink Stampin' Write Marker and the small middle with the Chocolate Chip one.

"Messages for Mom" Stamp Set available January 5th.

A card from a team member

Look at this beautiful card.  So stylish!  My favorite technique is Heat Embossing.  Click here to learn how to heat emboss.

I received this card from Bree, my second recruit to sign up.  She has sent me a Christmas Card every year ever since.  She is so talented and I knew she was going to do a wonderful job way back when.

Aunt Ruthie who is the reason I am a Demonstrator today, introduced me to Bree and friends.  They came to my card class and Bree signed up right away.  If you are interested in joining our team, e-mail me at maxstamps@yahoo.com for more information or click here.

Starting with stamps in the 2010 Occasions Mini Catalog and the 2010 Sale-A-Bration Brochure, Stampin′ Up! now offers our exclusive stamp art in both traditional wood-mount, and the new clear-mount option.

Our new clear-mount stamps are the result of extensive research with the intent to maintain the very best image quality in the stamping industry, while at the same time offering the ease-of-use and storability inherent in repositionable clear-mount stamps.

Utah Divas International - Sketch Challenge

Happy Saturday Friends!
This is the Sketch we were given from Carol for this weeks Utah Divas International Sketch Challenge.  I looked at this several times before an idea came to my mind.  I looked at it horizontally as opposed to Vertically.

Here is what I came up with !

I chose the traditional Real Red Card Stock for the base of the card. As I knew I would be using the Christmas Cocoa Speciality Designer Paper (Item # 116770) it was easy to pick Soft Suede as the coordinating color.  Dasher (Item # 116816) was a great choice for this particular sketch.  I stamped 'him' using Soft Suede Classic Ink on Whisper White Card Stock.  It is hard to tell on the picture, but I used the 2-Way Glue pen and the Dazzlin' Diamonds on his antlers.  I gave him a Rudolph red nose using the Real Red Stampin' Write Marker.  I added a Chocolate Chip corduroy button to finish the sketch.

I love the Big Shot.  I used the Perfect Details Texturz Plate on the Soft Suede Card Stock.  It added dimension and was a perfect match for the Dasher Stamp Set.

Dasher $8.95

Build a Bear Workshop

I am so excited to announce two exclusive Build A Bear Workshop viewing parties in December!  I am one of just 60 Stampin' Up demonstrators in the entire United States who were chosen for this special promotion. I am SO happy to be bringing this event to the Salt Lake City area!

This is the perfect opportunity for moms and kids to spend a little quality time together during a hectic time of year. But you don't have to have children to attend--come and make the adorable projects for grandchildren, godchildren, nieces and nephews, kids you babysit, next door neighbor kids--any child would love what we're going to make!
Here's how it works: we'll be making a birthday card project with Stampin' Up's exclusive line of Build A Bear stamps and accessories, together with everyone. Then, we'll have the kids watch the Christmas movie and snack on Gummi Bears and Teddy Grahams, while the moms and other adult guests make two cute projects. All children in attendance will be given some of their very own projects to color.  My friend Tiffany shared this wonderful idea.

The party is FREE...
In addition, every adult that attends will get a FREE coupon from Build A Bear towards their next purchase at one of the stores, PLUS the chance to win their own DVD of the new Holly & Hal Moose movie!! How cool is that?

Click here to view the trailer.

But wait, there's more! Attendees will be the FIRST TO SEE the BRAND NEW line of BABW merchandise from the upcoming Occasions Mini Catalog (starts Jan. 5th).
There will also be a ONE NIGHT ONLY SPECIAL OFFER on the Build A Bear Workshop collection from Stampin' Up from me--don't miss this!!! You must attend in order to take advantage.
Call or E-Mail me for more information.  You can either host a party or attend one.  Definitely lots of fun :)

Sketch Challenge - In Honor of my Dad

Hello my friends,

I hope my American friends have had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  We had a fabulous time!

Today is a bittersweet day for me.  My dear Father would have been 70 years old today.  The pain I experience from missing him so much is the hardest thing I have had to bear in my life.  To read more about my Dad and his life, you can visit the blog I created in his honor by clicking here.

I obviously had my Dad in mind with the card I created today. I am loving MDS so much that I have created another card for the sketch challenge using this fabulous new software from Stampin' Up!

Up until Monday, November 30th, you can order this at a 20% discount.  This is one thing you won't regret buying.  Just think you could get caught up with all your scrapbooking so quickly. Look how easy it is to create wonderful cards too.   Click here for more details.
