Technique - Stampin' Pastels

Hello Friends,

I was chatting yesterday with a good friend of mine about Stampin' Pastels.  They are often overlooked in the Stampin' world.  I believe mainly because people don't use them or don't know *how* to use them.
Here are some simple techniques

Technique A: Chalking

1] Apply pastel color to your card stock or paper with a sponge-tip applicator, cotton swab, sponge dauber, or stiff paintbrush.

2] Blend the colors as desired with the applicators or blender pen. When using blender pens, just touch the pen directly to the corner of the chalk to pick up the color.

Technique B: Poppin' Pastels

1] Stamp the image with a white Craft Stampin' Pad or VersaMark® ink pad.

2] Use sponge daubers to apply the pastel color directly to the ink.

3] Blow off any excess powder. (Repeat this process if you are using this technique with a Two-Step Stampin' set.)

QUICK TIP: To avoid smearing, gently dab the chalk rather than rubbing it across the image.

Utah Divas International - Saturday Sketch Challenge

Hello Friends,

Time for another Sketch Challenge with Utah Divas International.  Here is the sketch for this week.

As soon as I saw the sketch, it reminded me of the notecards I made this week.  Click here to see them.  Sometimes you just need to send a card that doesn't have a sentiment to go along with it.
Here is what I came up with

As hard as it is for ME to imagine, there are people who don't like to stamp.  This card has just 3 stamped images and the rest is punches, and an Embossing Folder.  I am thrilled that Stampin' Up! decided to bring back many of the previous In Colors.  Riding Hood Red and Pink Piroutte are featured today.

Stamp Set: Circle Circus
Card Stock: Riding Hood Red, Pink Pirouette, Whisper White, Basic Black
Ink: Pink Piroutte, Basic Black
Accessories: Circle Punches, Big Shot, Embossing Folder, Stampin Dimensionals, Snail Adhesive

Have a wonderful weekend!

Gift for Dad - Kit in the Mail

Hello Friends,

Everytime I make something with a Father/Dad theme, it takes me twice as long to create it now that my Dad has passed away.  Either the tears start streaming down my face and I can't see :) or I just think about all the happy memories and then my mind wanders and minutes later I remember I am creating something.
I made this project a while back and plan on adding some pictures of my Dad along with some journaling.

Stamp Set: Extreme Elements
Card Stock: Sage Shadow, Basic Gray, Basic Black, Very Vanilla
Designer Series Paper: Nouveau Chic
Ink: Sage Shadow
Accessories: Tab Punch, Circle Punches, Heart Punch, Snail Adhesive, Big Shot, Serif Essentials Die

Idea for Notecards

Hello Friends,

Have you ever just wanted to send a card without a sentiment -kinda just like a notecard?  I was thinking today how I need some notecards without anything on it - No Happy Birthday or Get Well Soon.  No Thinking of you or Sympathy.  I just needed blank cards to write a message.

Here is what I came up with.  You will see that the same card can be used 3 different ways.

Very clean, crisp and easy.  If you wanted a Thank You or another sentiment you could stamp it on the inside of the card.  You could make a lot of these cards rather quickly.

Stamp Set: Circle Circus
Card Stock: Whisper White, Bermuda Bay, Melon Mambo
Ink: Melon Mambo
Accessories: Big Shot, Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder, Circle Punches, Bermuda Bay and Melon Mambo polka dot ribbon, Stampin' Dimensionals, Snail Adhesive.

Hope you have a wonderful day!

Congratulations Kayleigh!

Hello Friends,

My second daughter Kayleigh graduated!  I am so proud of her. She has been a wonderful student and get this : She never missed a day of school.  Not ever.  When I asked her what she would say if people asked what her secret to that is .  She said "I went to bed early every night and got sufficient rest - I was never sick."
I created this card especially for Kayleigh.  All of my cards are the standard 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 but I decided to make this one bigger so all our family could sign it.  I wanted it to be special enough so we could put it in a frame.

"It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves"
This is the inside - before we all sign our well wishes

I punched out one of the stamped images with the scalloped circle punch and adhered it to a Scallop #2 cut out with the Big Shot to make it pop and scrolled up a small piece of Whisper White Card Stock and tied a ribbon around it.

I couldn't resist adding a flower to it.  Click here to see my tutorial on making these.

Elegant Eggplant is a beautiful color purple and I LOVE working with it. I am so glad this was the school color. I knew when I added the piece of Whisper White Card Stock on the larger card that I would struggle with the 'white part' so I sponged Elegant Eggplant ink over it to give it a great look and it took the 'white' away.
Although this stamp set is a retired set (Great Grads - I rarely ever use a set that is retired) I just knew this would be one I would use for this particular card.

Congratulations Kayleigh - Love you so much!  I cannot talk about college just yet ok.  Wait 'til the Fall :)

Lots of things happening in the Stampin' Up! world (and my eyes are tearing up :) -so click here to see yesterday's post.

Have a wonderful day!
