MDS Monday #3

Hello Friends,

Time for another MDS Monday :) This week our challenge was to make a Birthday Card.  I used one of my all time favorite color combinations.

I started with the Early Espresso base and added a layer of Pretty In Pink.  I used the Spotted Designer Paper for the top part of the card.  I used Grosgrain Ribbon and buttons as accents in Early Espresso.

b is for birthday is an image taken from the "Party Hearty" stamp set also in Early Espresso.

Personalized Note Cards

Hello Friends,

I love Basic Black and Very Vanilla together - so elegant.  I am in need of 'note cards' to send out and this is what I came up with.  I added a piece of Very Vanilla to the inside of the card - makes it much easier to 'write a note'.

The beautiful, stylish background is one of the stamps from the 'BLISS' stamp set. One of the many choices you can receive for FREE with a $50 order.

Products Used:
Stamp Sets - Bliss, Broadsheet Alphabet
Card Stock - Basic Black, Very Vanilla,
Ink - Stazon (Jet Black)
Accessories - 1 3/8" Circle Punch, Scallop Border Punch, Pearls, Black Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, Snail Adhesive, Stampin' Dimensionals

My sister Rebecca suffers with MS.  It is a terrible disease and if I had ONE wish right now, just one - I would wish that she was free from the pain and anguish this is in her life.  I went to SAMS club yesterday and there was a table with snacks and popcorn you could buy and all the proceeds went to MS. I walked up and got the appropriate money ready for the popcorn when my eyes welled up! I reached into my wallet - I couldn't speak to the employee but just handed her $20 and left the store. She knew by looking at me my heart was full.

The reason I share this with you today is because I am going to sell Cards in the Mail.  ALL PROCEEDS will go to MS.

10 Cards for just $15 ($17 if you would like envelopes)
Wherever you live in the world, order these cards and I will mail them to you for Free.  You could buy these for yourself or for a gift.  Just let me know which initial you would like on your cards.
E-mail me at maxstamps@yahoo.com if you are interested in this wonderful cause.
(Please note - the cards you receive will not have the pearls on them due to cost)

Happy Birthday Jim !

Hello Friends,

If you have been following my blog for a while or you know me pretty well, you will know it is very rare I create masculine cards.  I feel much more in my comfort zone using flowers and 'cutesies'.  So believe me, this was a REAL challenge.

Today is my Supervisor's birthday.  He is my Supervisor and friend.  Back in the day when I was a new Demonstrator, I attended our Stampin' Up! convention in Salt Lake City and met Jim.  I won a prize and had to go pick it up at the FUN booth.  We seriously called it the fun booth as that is what it was. I told all my friends they HAD to win a prize as going to the booth was a great experience.  Jim was there along with Danny, Steve, Craig and Alex and they made you feel like a movie star when you went to the 'Fun' booth :)

I wanted to give the card a little bit of an aged look.  In NO way am I saying that Jim is old.  How could he be?  He is younger than me :) I knew I was going to use Crumb Cake and Baja Breeze as my main colors.  I wanted to add some depth to the card, so I used an extra piece of Baja Breeze and ran it through the Big Shot using the Square Lattice Folder.  I then sponged the whole piece using Baja Breeze ink.

I stamped the various stamps from the Plane and Simple set using Soft Suede ink on Crumb Cake Card Stock.  I then used the rotary cutter (Cutter Kit) to tear at the edges and then scrumpled up the card stock.  Opened it up and sponged crumb cake ink all over the card stock. It has been a while since I used Twill Tape so out it came.

Supplies used to create Jim's card.

Stamp Set - Plane and Simple
Card Stock - Baja Breeze, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Very Vanilla
Classic Ink - Soft Suede, Early Espresso, Baja Breeze
Accessories - Big Shot, Square Lattice Embossing Folder, Cutter Kit, 3/8" Twill Tape, Stampin' Sponges, Modern Label Extra Large Punch, Crop-A-Dile, Metallic Eyelets, Snail Adhesive, Stampin' Dimensionals.

Look out for my card class/kits in the mail - Masculine Cards :)

Happy Birthday Jim! Thanks for being born x

Utah Divas International Color Challenge #24

Hello Friends,

Time for another Utah Divas International Color Challenge.  I spent the past weekend in AZ.  We went to visit Lance's sister and family and I was asked (very politely :) not to take any stampin' supplies with me!  WHAT??? How tragic!  I agreed and was actually happy with my decision as I was able to spend the whole weekend with my family and not creating as I do with most of my time.

I did however, have my laptop with me so was able to make a few projects using My Digital Studio.  Look at that perfectly tied bow!  Another great reason to use My Digital Studio :)

Here are the colors we we were given to work with this week.

Obviously, these colors (along with the picture) reminded me of Spring.  Oh how I yearn for warm sunny spring days :)
I refer to many people as 'friend' and this sentiment deemed fit for today's card.

So to all of you, Hello Friend :)

MDS Monday #2

Hello Friends,

Happy President's Day!  I am always grateful for a holiday - especially when it falls on a Monday.  I LOVE long weekends :)
Time for another MDS Monday.  This week our challenge was to create a project using 'Red, White and Blue'.
Pacific Point is my favorite 'blue' color.  I used this for my base and then added a design from the "Elements of Style" stamp set using Whisper White.  To add the red color, I simply used brads and a sentiment.

I love the simplicity of using My Digital Studio to create projects.

Let's see what the rest of the team came up with by clicking here.

A selection of Birthday Cards

Hello Friends,

This weekend I am visiting my sister in law and her family in AZ. I was asked not to bring any stampin' supplies with me by Lance :) Thankfully, I have lots of projects to work on with My Digital Studio. On Monday I will post my "MDS Monday" challenge for Utah Divas International plus on Tuesday I will post my "Color Challenge".

The cards shown above were made for my daughter, Natalie.  She was asked to make cards for a gift for someone and this is what we came up with.  She needed basic cards and we had a lot of fun making them.

Our card class in March will be "Birthday Cards".  More details to come.

Season of Friendship Valentine

Hello Friends,

This card was made for my Mom for Valentine's Day!  When my Dad was alive, he used to send my Mom a card every year and he wrote:
"Will you be my VALentine?" (My Mom's name is Val :) and he would write Love from ?  It really was so cute.

The stamp set "Season of Friendship" was perfect to stick the cute little hearts to. I just love the Red glimmer paper.  So many uses for it - without any mess.

Stamp Set - Season of Friendship
Card Stock - Real Red, Whisper White
Classic Ink - Soft Suede, Real Red

Utah Divas International Color Challenge #23

Hello Friends,

Welcome to another Utah Divas International Color Challenge.  I decided it was about time I used the "Build a Blossom" stamp set that I have not used yet along with the Blossom Petals Punch.
Here are the colors we were given to work with.

I love all these colors.  Chocolate Chip has been an all time favorite of mine and Melon Mambo is a wonderful color to work with. I tend to use Old Olive a lot when looking for a green to work with so it was nice to come out of my comfort zone and use Certainly Celery.

Products used:
Stamp Set- Build a Blossom
Card Stock - Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Melon Mambo, Certainly Celery
Inks - Same as above
Accessories - Big Shot, Dots Embossing Folder, Blossom Petals Punch, Soft Subtle Buttons - (Certainly Celery), Snail Adhesive, Stampin' Dimensionals.

Class coming up soon using this set and punch :)

MDS Monday #1

Hello Friends,

Welcome to MDS Monday.  Every Monday I will share a creation I made using My Digital Studio.  Our Coordinator, Brandy has sent us a list of the challenges for the upcoming weeks and of course today is a Valentine's Card.

Very basic card to start off with today.  I used the 6x6 card layout and chose Crumb Cake Card Stock for the base.  Some simple layering of Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla.  I used the Full Heart Punch using Riding Hood Red to fill it.  I used the "Love You" stamp and added a Chocolate Chip brad on each side of the sentiment.

I added some Riding Hood Red Grosgrain Ribbon.  I used two strips to give some depth and added a bow using the same color.  Just for a twist, I added a brad.

For a little background depth, I used the zig zag.

Be sure to come over to my house on Thursday evening for a MDS class where you will learn some basic and simple tricks to get you going on a myriad of projects.

Scrapbook Class - February

Hello Friends,

It was very hard for me not to use the Big Shot - Serif Alphabet Dies on this layout.  I know you may think this is 'overloaded' with hearts - but personally I LOVE hearts and don't think you can have too many.
This layout uses an array of hearts using the gorgeous Red Glimmer Paper, the Full Heart Punch along with Whisper White Craft Ink Pad and the I {heart} Hearts Stamp Set.

I did use the Big Shot and "Fun Flowers" die to create the flowers and the Scallop Envelope Die to create a cute envelope for journaling or a cute 'love note' :) The Big Shot saves so much time tracing and cutting out templates.

I have a few places left for this class. This coming Tuesday at my house. Please e-mail me at maxstamps@yahoo.com
If you cannot make the class or live out of State, contact me for a Kit in the Mail.

Red Glimmer Paper - simply cannot have too much of this either.
Red Glimmer Paper 121790  Price: $3.95

Valentine’s Day just begs for red glitter—what better way to express the deep feelings of the heart than through its shimmery shininess? Inspire Create & Share

Hello Friends,

Do you wish you had all the time in the world to just inspire, create and share?  I so wish I did.  This past weekend I got 'consumed' in something I really shouldn't have and I wasted valuable time that I could have been and should have been using to create, plan for classes and get on the phone to my customers.

I am in a temporary dwelling at the moment (aka my stamp room) and wanted to share some pics with you of where I spend a lot of my time.  I hope to catch up and share projects and kits, classes and ideas with you in the upcoming week.

I will show the 'other' part of the room when I have organized all my stamp sets :)

If you are interested in becoming a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator or attending any of my classes/events, please let me know - maxstamps@yahoo.com or 801 897-0429.
